Long Island Muslims prepare 1,500 Meals for the needy

Charity is considered one of the basic tenets of Islam. Following in this tradition The Shah-E-Najaf Islamic Center is hosting a Month of Ramadan Food Drive for the Lady Fatima Food Pantry. The Lady Fatima Food Pantry is an initiative started by students of the weekend school in order to help people in the community.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has said, "God smiles at the person who stretches out his hand to give charity, and whoever God smiles at is forgiven." Throughout Ramadan, we will be collecting canned food and other non perishable items in boxes located on the Mens and Ladies sides. We have designated boxes set up in which people can drop off their food.

Many in our community go hungry for long periods of time and do not have access to Halal food items. With these donations we hope to help these such people. Items collected will be donated to members of the Brentwood Community regardless of their religious affiliation.
