In his opening statement at the House Committee on Small Business, ""Bonus Depreciation: What it Means for Small Business," Ranking Member Graves discussed the importance of the bonus depreciation tax. He stated that it helps owners more quickly recover the cost of qualified purchases, freeing up capital to reinvest in their companies.

On September 23, 2010, Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO) spoke out on the house floor on H.R. 5297, the Small Business Lending Fund Act of 2010. Ranking Member Graves called the bill a missed opportunity to help small businesses around the country that are in desperate need of less regulation and more certainty about the future.

Mr. Bailes discussed how from May 2009 through February of 2010, our employee count dropped from 74 to 50 because of struggling sales. However, this year his company has been able to hire 10 more employees.

Mr. Bailes also asked the Committee to not increase the number of rules and regulations that apply to small businesses and to not raise taxes.

Ranking Member Sam Graves on how the federal goverment's unstable policies of bailouts, skyrocketing federal spending, and record national debt have had a devastating effect on small businesses across the country.

On September 29, 2010, Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) spoke on the House floor about the $3.8 trillion tax increase will affect small businesses unless all tax cuts are extended.

On July 28, 2010, Ranking Member Graves, questioned Mr. Gregory Kutz of the GAO. Ranking Member Graves asked "what steps are in place to make sure the right firms qualify for SBA programs, and what needs to be done to punish violators."
