Google's Personalized Search shows us custom search results, even when we're signed out of Google. I've noticed several marketers taking advantage of these personalized results by showing them in videos or screen shots as "proof" that they can do very well in the ranking. The problem here is what they're showing us is NOT what everyone else sees. This deceptive tactic is an attempt to gain some undeserved trust and makes sales.
I recommend you do your own independent search using an incognito browser, for example, and verify the results they're displaying.
Mitch talked about ranking for search terms that no one is looking for compared to those that are competitive. Mitch also warns us about those that promise to get into the top results. No one can make that guarantee and we should avoid those that are making these promises.
Sheryl says it's mean, cruel, and evil and those that are doing it, that knows better, should stop. lol Sheryl also seconded the idea of doing our own searches to verify the results before buying into a marketer's pitch.
